In my final year project at my university, I decided to make a chess playing robot. The main idea was to make a manipulator capable of picking and placing a chess piece and a chessboard detection method using image processing techniques.

The manipulator is controlled using an ATMEL AVR microcontroller. The turn reading is taken by the ADC using a 1 turn POT and the linear motion reading is done using interrupt from an optical encoder.
